Dark-Hunter Marathon!

I was supposed to start the super re-read of re-reads earlier this summer.
That didn't happen. Reasons unknown.
So here I sit, 18 days before the much anticipated release of Retribution, with 28 books to read! [ I'm including ALL the short stories/anthologies]
Yes, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. And quite frankly, a bit sweaty.

I've already finished Dragonswan and I'm half way done with Fantasy Lover.
Oh, how I have missed these characters! And Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing!
Feeling all nostalgic and warm and fuzzy inside.

Soon I will meet Kyrian. He took my virginity, you know. My PNR virginity.
It was SO GOOD.

But not as good as when I met my Love. My First Hubby <he still is> Acheron.
My Akri.
My toes are curling just thinking about him and the rest of the yummy DH's.

So girls, IT IS ON! LIKE DONKEY KONG! With barbecue sauce.

We are Darkness. We are Shadow.
We are the Rulers of the Night.
We, alone, stand between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. We are the Guardians.
The Soulless Keepers.
Our souls were cast out so that we would not forewarn the Daimons we pursue. By the time they see us coming, it’s too late.
The Daimons and Apollites know us. They fear us. We are death to all those who prey upon the humans.
Neither Human, nor Apollite, we exist beyond the realm of the Living, beyond the realm of the Dead.
We are the Dark-Hunters.
And we are eternal.
Yeah, yeah. Enough of the doom and gloom because, baby, that ain’t us. You want to know what a Dark-Hunter is? We are what the intro says. We’re Mad, Bad and Immortal. We’re ancient warriors with attitudes who fight rough, and play hard.

Review: Deeper Than Midnight by Lara Adrian

Deeper than Midnight is the ninth book in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian.

If you have not read this series then what in the hell is wrong with you? Walk, no RUN and get these books immediately!

This book pics RIGHT up where we left off with Brock and this time the focus is on Hunter. In the last book, Brock had saved Corinne after over seventy-five years of abuse she suffered under Dragos. Corinne wants nothing more than to go home and see her family and start learning how to live her life. Hunter, the former weapon owned by Dragos, has volunteered to take her back to her family.

Hunter is drawn to Corinne, which is surprising because Hunter has never "felt" before. He was trained to only be an assassin. No feelings. No emotions. NADA. Watching Hunter struggle with his emotions and feelings was an interesting read. I will say, I was surprised with how quickly the two of them realized their feelings for each other. I would have appreciated more relationship development in that area. I'm still left with the question of why they really liked each other.

This story also focused on Chase. While Chase's story is critical to Deeper than Midnight, and his story is next in this series, dammit, I wanted more Hunter!

The ending of this book left me with a, "oh no she didn't just cliffhanger me!" feeling, I still highly recommend it. I also recommend getting a calendar to mark off the days when the next book comes out.
