Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison

Title: Dragon Bound
Author: Thea Harrison
Series: Elder Races (#1)
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Review written by Melissa

Where do I begin? First off, I want to send a special thanks my lovely sister Sonia for this recommendation. :)

Half-human and half-wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful–and passionate—of the Elder Races.
As the most feared and respected of the wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they’ve ignited in one another.

What a nice surprise this book was! I had heard that Thea was a hot new paranormal author and this book did not disappoint! It starts off with an adrenaline themed opening scene and then just takes you for a ride. The writing and descriptions are similar to Nalini Singh in the sense where you can visualize yourself in that world. Characterization for the hero and heroine is pretty developed and they have personalities and humor. Dragos just emanates power, is used to being in control, and he is not afraid to tell others what he wants. This is where Pia comes in and teaches him some more polite ways of dealing with things. LOL. I loved the heroine as well. She showed emotions and conflicts and the relationship between her and Dragos seemed believable to me.

There are a lot of other beings introduced in here that I was unfamiliar with, such as Gryphons, Gargoyles, Elves, Fae, Trolls, basically anything supernatural. I didn't read about Vampires but from what I am gathering they will be added to the mix later.

Dragos has an entourage of sorts that is loyal to him. These characters include Rune and Graydon whom I adored. Also, Constantine, Bayne, Tricks, and Tiago are some of the others. I also liked Pia's boss Quentin. He was very sweet to her. :)

There were a couple of things that caught me off guard and I am still not sure how I feel about them, but without giving away spoilers I cannot embellish on them. All I can say is give this new author a chance and see if you feel the same. :)

ARC: Body of Sin by Eve Silver

Title: Body of Sin
Author: Eve Silver
Series: The Otherkin (book 4)

This is the 4th book in Eve Silver´s great Otherkins series. If you haven´t read these books yet, do it!

The series is different from the usual PNR, darker and seductive, based on the egyptian mythology and with great characters. The Krayl brothers are the most powerful soul reapers, the sons of the most feared Underworld god, Sutekh, the Lord of chaos. Half humans, half gods they are immortal. Until one of them, Lokan is murdered. Now Dagan, Alastor and Mal do anything to find their brother´s murderer and revenge him.

The books in the series so far:
1. Sins of the Heart (Dagan)
2. Sins of the Soul (Alastor)
3. Sins of the Flesh (Mal)

A little trailer:

I was lucky to get the ARC of the last book in this series - Body of Sin (yay me!!) which comes out on August 23rd.

SPOILER WARNING: Don´t read this review if you haven´t read the first 3 books yet!

*************************************************************

This was a nice ending of the series. At least for now because I have the feeling there will be more books :-)

Lokan Krayl used to be the most powerful soul reaper, the right hand of his father, Sutekh. He wasn´t supposed to die, ever. But he did. Betrayed and murdered, his soul was lost forever in the Null Zone, not alive and not dead.

"The blood of Sutekh. The blood of Aset. And the god will walk the world once again."

That´s the prophecy that got Lokan killed. In the last book, Dagan, Mal and Alastor managed to save him by putting all the parts of his body and soul back together. I was expecting to see Lokan back with vengence! But that didn´t happen until the end of the book, so if you are like me, consider yourself warned.

So Lokan is now back but still trapped in the Underworld. The only way to come back is to pass the 12 Gates of his eternal enemy Osiris but that´s harder than it seemed. In order to help him, he is given a guide. To his biggest surprise it´s Brynn, the mother of his child who he believed to be human. But Brynn is so much more! So now Lokan has to put his fate into the hands of the woman who lied to him the entire time.

I really appreciated the flashbacks how Lokan and Brynn met and how their daughter Dana was conceived. I loved Lokan. He would do anything to save Dana. She was his world. He died for her. And now he is reunited with the woman he loves but Brynn has her own secrets. She knows that by helping Lokan to pass the Gates, she will be trapped in the Underworld forever. But she does it to protect their child. I was cheering for them the entire time. Their lovestory was full of sacrifices and they really deserved some hapiness.

I loved how this book ended. Seeing Lokan reunite with his brothers brought tears to my eyes. But what I really loved the most was how the author solved the things between Lokan and his father and how she wrapped all the things up. Bravo!!

My only complaint is that the book ended pretty abruptly, I wanted to see more! But since in this book we got to know new characters - Brynn´s three brothers - I am pretty sure Mrs. Silver is not done with the series yet :-)

My favorite quote (it´s from the flashbacks, when Lokan found out that he has a daughter):
Then his daughter opened her eyes - her denim blue eyes - and looked straight at him. His heart shattered into a million pieces, then re-formed with her image at its core.

My rating: 4 EGYPTIAN STARS

REVIEW: The Fever series by K.M.Moning

The words that are used the most when speaking about this series are epic, amazing, unforgettable.. And after finishing it, I agree. MacKayla Lane and Jericho Barrons are characters that you won´t ever forget.

This is an epic story. Because it is different. These are not 5 books in a series like we are used to. This is ONE story divided to 5 books. You can´t read one book. You have to read them all. That´s the reason why I review this series as a whole. Every book (especially the last 3) ends with a cliffhanger and not any ordinary one. The Mother of All cliffhangers. A cliffhanger that will make you stay up till the morning because you just HAVE to read the next book.

Mac´s life was good. She was spending her days sunbathing by the pool in her parents´ house and evenings working as a bartender. Her life was easy, like a sunny summer afternoon. And then her sister was murdered in Ireland and Mac´s world was torn apart. When the police closes the case as unsolved, Mac decides to leave everything behind and travel to Ireland to track down her sister's murderer by herself. The first day she meets the mysterious bookstore owner Jericho Barrons and it changes her life forever.

The world Moning created for Mac is not a nice place to live in. It is a world ruled by dark Fae, deadly artifacts, dangerous enemies and ever-present illusions. This world is incredibly complex and Moning did hell of a job. Nothing it as it seems and with every answer Mac finds, dozens of new questions appear. The Fae are not cute little fairies from the fairy-tales, they are deadly and almost all-powerful.

MacKayla Lane
Mac went through incredible character development through the series. In the beginning she was a young, optimistic and naive girl that only cared about the sunshine and fashion. The events that shaped her were brutal. In the end, there was nothing left from the Rainbow Girl she used to be. Being the only person able to track the Sinsar Dubh – a powerful object able to control both our world and the world of the Fae, her life became a living hell. With two dangerous men on her side, who have only their own interests in mind, always trying to use her, Mac was always alone. Because there was nobody she could trust. She was forced to become strong. She became a survivor. She didn´t have any other choice. We see the story unfolding from her point of view, we see her failures and her victories and in the end, she would be the one holding the fate of the world in her hands. Both literally and figuratively.

Jericho Barrons
Dark, dangerous, brutal, sophisticated, intimidating, rude, the great unknown. Me and Barrons have a love-hate relationship. He brought the whole range of emotions out. I wanted to scream out of frustration. I wanted to slap him and kick his secretive ass down the road. I wanted to push him to the wall and *cough* ..kiss.. *cough* him. Basically the whole time we knew NOTHING about him. Not.A.Single.Thing. He NEVER tells Mac anything. He follows only his own goals and follows them with deadly focus. He is loyal to nobody but himself. And yet in the end, he is the only one that ALWAYS keeps Mac alive.

V´Lane
The „Death by Sex“ Fae. Deadly, terrifyingly beautiful Fae Prince.
„I am every erotic dream you´ve ever had and a thousand more you´ve never thought of. I am sex that will turn you inside out and burn you down to ashes..
.. and if I choose, I can make you whole again.“
Not from this world, he lives by the Fae rules and the Fae moral. Humans are nothing to him. And yet Mac is different. Through her, he starts to understand. Starts to care. But can a being that is almost all-powerful and immortal, to whom the time means nothing and humans are just ants under his shoe ever really know compassion, love, trust? Where Barrons is the dark night, V´Lane is the sunny day. And yet they are both equally dangerous and equally deadly.

The characters in this series are brilliantly written, multi-dimensional, with many layers, having their own demons inside. In Moning´s world there is no black and white. There are only millions shades of gray. You will think about everything that happened even days or weeks after you finish.

It is urban fantasy on its purest so don´t expect hot scenes. But expect a great story that will stick in your mind. The series is written from Mac´s point of view and is full of her thoughts. The writing style is a little too descriptive for my taste but I loved every minute of it. It will break your heart and then heal it.. only to break it again. Bravo, Mrs. Moning. This series is one to remember.

And in the end one of my favorite quotes:
"One day you will kiss a man you can't breathe without, and find that breath is of little consequence."
~ Barrons

My rating: 4 EPIC STARS

And my two favorite clips.. My only complaint is about how they pictured V´Lane in the first one and in my mind, Barrons ALWAYS looked like David Gandy :-)

REVIEW: Devil Without a Cause by Terri Garey

Title: Devil Without A Cause
Author: Terri Garey
Series: The Devil´s Bargain (book 1)

This is the first book in Terri´s new Devil´s Bargain series. It is a spin-off of Nicki Styx.

Sammy, a.k.a. Samael, is the Devil himself. The original fallen angel. Pure seduction wrapped up in the form of a blond, gorgeous bad-ass with a devilish grin that makes you think of satin sheets and tangled bodies.. just waiting for his victim to be caught and lost forever.. I have loved Sammy from the first time we met him in Nicki Styx series so I was super-excited that he got his own series!! This book did not disappoint. And it is worth buying just for the gorgeous cover :-)

In order to save her son´s life, Faith is forced to make a deal with the Devil. Yes, the Devil we know :-) Sammy is still the bad boy as usual (which is why we love him) and of course he has his own agenda in mind and so the play begins :-)

Faith´s task is to steal a magical ring from the rock star Finn. But what Sammy didn´t tell her is that without the ring, Finn´s soul is Sammy´s to take because the ring was the only thing keeping him away.
Finn made a deal with Sammy when he was 16. He wanted to be rich and famous. Now he has everything he ever dreamed of and yet he knows it´s all only temporary because the Devil is waiting behind the corner. He didn´t think about love and picket fences until he met Faith. But when she steals the ring from him, he knows no mercy and no means are too strong to use in order to get it back.

The book covered both Faith and Finn´s love story as well as Sammy´s life in his hellish kingdom. I have to admit that even if the love story was good, what I really LOVED about this book was Sammy´s part. We see more of his background, his memories of the Paradise as well as a BIG surprise (which I hadn´t expected at all!!). Because of what he did for Nicki Styx in her last book, he is now given a chance for redemption. Will he take it or will he stay the King of Lies, the Devil himself?

This book can be read as solitary but you will enjoy it much more if you have read Nicki Styx series first.

My rating: 4 BAD BOY STARS

REVIEW: Personal Demons by Stacia Kane

Title: Personal Demons
Author: Stacia Kane
Series: Megan Chase (book 1)

Megan Chase is a psychologist with her own radio show. She is also a psychic - able to "read" her patients´ thoughts, memories and personality in general in order to help them. But now her boss starts using a new marketing campaign, introducing Megan as the one who "slays all your personal demons". And the real personal demons don´t like that at all! The only person able to help her is the mysterious Greyson Dante, a demon with his own interests.

This book started good and promising. The writing style is really good, easy to read and with enough dialogues. What didn´t work for me were the characters and the story itself and I became bored to the end.. In my opinion it would have come out much better if it would be written in a less serious way. The characters would be great for a funny and humorous kind of book (similar to Nicki Styx series) - the little personal demons sitting on everyone´s shoulder, Megan´s three new demon bodyguards with their childish behavior as well as the whole idea of a demon slaying radio psychologist. But no, this book took itself serious and the main heroine was not interesting enough for that.

If you are looking for a strong female lead, a kick-ass heroine, this is not the right book. If you are looking for a sarcastic, independent heroine, this is not the right book either. Megan was mediocre, always being forced by everybody to do something. Yes, she had her "anger issues" which fueled her powers but still, she was not interesting enough. I just like my heroines strong and with attitude.

I was hoping for some big twist in the end that will reveal what really happened in Megan´s past that was so important that some of the strongest demons were after her.. and came out really disappointed.

So as I said, this book had great potential if it was written in a different way. I probably won´t pick the next one in this series. I really liked Mrs. Kane´s writing style though so I will definitely check out her other series (Downside Ghosts).

My rating: 3*

REVIEW: Dead Girls Are Easy

Title: Dead Girls Are Easy
Author: Terri Garey
Series: Nicki Styx (book 1)

Nicki has never been an ordinary girl. With her goth-vintage style, the pink streaks in her black hair and her love for leather and lace, she doesn´t take crap from anybody. And she knows what she wants. She is perfectly happy with working in the vintage clothing store she owns and with having fun with her gay BFF.

And then she dies.

And returns back to life.

And now she sees dead people.

After coming over the first shock, she finds out that delivering messages from dead old ladies is not that bad after all. Especially when the sexy doctor who saved her life writes a paper about near-death experiences and wants to spend time with her.

But then her neighbour Caprice is murdered and her ghost starts to haunt Nicki and it definitely isn´t a friendly spirit. In order to get rid of her, Nicki has to learn more than she ever wanted to know about voodoo, priestesses, ritual sacrifices and evil spirits who want to steal one´s soul. And in all the chaos, she needs to convince her sexy doctor that she is not crazy.

Doctor Joe Bascombe is immediately attracted to the crazy girl who died under his hands. He just can´t let her go out of his life even if she seems to be his exact opposite – too crazy, too independent and afraid of any commitments. And having a strange habit of visiting graveyards after sunset. But as Nicki soon discovers, the good doc has some big secrets of his own.

My thoughts:

I immediately fell in love with the characters. They were fun and especially the dialogues between Nicki and her gay BFF Evan made me laugh. Nicki reminds me of Tabby from the Dark Hunters series and I liked her from the beginning. Doc Joe is the right combination of a sexy doctor who always tries to find reasonable explanations for all the events around Nicki and a man who is willing to accept Nicki as she is and pushing his boundaries for her.

The writing style is easy and funny, with some places that are darker (Caprice´s nasty spirit) and some that are more serious (Nicki´s dialogues with her new shrink about the near-death experience). The romance was average and was not the main focus of the book which was not a bad thing. Overall I really enjoyed the book. It is a perfect read for a sunny summer afternoon :-) I will definitely pick the next book in the series.

My rating: 3,5*

Willing Victim - Cara McKenna

Title: Willing Victim
Author: Cara McKenna
Genre: Contemporary / Erotica

HP WARNING! HP WARNING! HP WARNING!This story is HOT. Hotter than hell.
Not only did I have to change panties after reading Willing Victim, I even had to change my P A N T S. True story.

For the past couple years Laurel's been coasting, hiding in the backseat while her life drifts off course. Then one summer afternoon a tall, built bruiser named Flynn strides in and steers her straight into an infatuation she never saw coming.
Flynn introduces Laurel to things she’s never imagined before—to the violent but exciting realm of the underground boxing circuit, to rough sex and even rougher role-playing, and to an attraction she craves even as it intimidates her. As Flynn invites her deeper into his world and his life, Laurel has to make a choice—let fear keep her holed up where it’s safe, or take a chance and fight for the man who makes her feel more alive than she’d dreamed possible.

Whoever is out there, unholy or otherwise…
Please hear my prayer.

I am ruined. Completely and utterly ruined.
I am accepting my place in this world as the forever single woman.
I am FOREVER RUINED for all mortal men out there!
*waves buh-bye to white picket fences, future kiddies etc etc*
For I have finally found my McDreamy. My Mr Right. The One.
And he’s a frickin’ fictional character in a book!
FEEL MY DESPAIR!

The brilliant Cara McKenna has penned with even more brilliant words the Ultimate Man. For me.
An arrogant, blunt, cocky caveman. Caring only for those closest to him. Sexy and stacked with blue eyes. A fighter. With a thing for mean and rough sex. That kind of caveman.
<Yes, I find the knuckle-dragging – pull my hair – Neanderthal very attractive>

But I fear that I will never know the bliss of finding my own caveman, so therefor I ask You…nah, I’m begging really...find a real life Flynn for me! Send him my way! I’ll do anything. <Desperate much? Heh>

If you, dear reader, feel that the really intimidating and bossy man is your cup of tea – read-devour-savor this book. McKenna has a simple yet captivating way with her words. A neck-grabbing, never letting go kind of way even though the story was simple, short and to the point. But OH SO GOOD.
A story made of dark, forbidden fantasies and desires.
This HP has never been more pleased.
I felt and wanted everything the story was giving me.

Flynn is not Prince Charming, that's for sure.
He's way too intense for that. Too alpha and in-your-face brutal.
Bad-boy paradise come true. And he has his sweet, oh so sweet, moments.
Like Laurel, our heroine, thinks: "You are some f****d-up kind of magical."
I found the characters believable, the dialog hot, smart and funny, and I couldn't ask for more in such a gritty, dark and sizzling hot romance like this one. I am a Willing Victim.

Wait.
There is one gigantic flaw though – IT’S TOO DAMN SHORT!
I screamed NO! out loud when I turned the last page.
I went to bed horny and pissed off.

My rating: Five. Burning. Hot. Stars.

Reader advisory: Although all of the sexual acts in this story are 100% consensual, it contains role-playing scenarios that may upset some readers who are sensitive about rape, even in a simulated capacity.

OUR REVIEWS:

SONIA

I loved this book! This was the first one in the serie where I enjoyed ALL the storylines..

This was supposed to be the story of Manny and Payne but in fact their story was in the background. I think you all agree with me that this book was mostly about Vishous. Seeing the sister he didn´t know about getting injured this badly just cracked him and all the pain just had to come out somehow. No way would V have healed all the years of pain and physical and emotional abuse in just couple of weeks after he met Jane.. It´s so much believable this way!! So now V is caught in a self-destructive downward spiral that just threatens to destroy the man.
I cried for him. And I cried for Butch. And I cried for him and Jane.
And I loved every minute of it!

Manny was a hot bastard. Definitely in the same league with the Brothers. I loved how he stood up to V and claimed his female.
"It finally happened, he thought. All his life he’d wondered why he’d never fallen in love and now he knew the answer to that. He’d been waiting for this moment, this woman, this time.
This female is mine, he thought."
"Even if it killed him, he was going to save this woman.
And as Goatee’s eyes flashed with pure hatred, he thought, well, shit, it might just come down to that.."
His story with Payne would not fill the whole book but it was definitely sweet. Payne was not the kick-ass fighter from previous books but for this one book, I was ok with that (as long as she doesn´t stay like this, I want the kick-ass heroine back in the next book!).

I really liked Xcor and his band, especially Throe. Yes, they are savage and don´t consider moral as we are used to, they live according to their own rules but I love them. Given Xcor´s background with the Bloodletter, it couldn´t be different for him I guess.. But I think now, that Payne told him the truth, he will start living his own way.. Can´t wait!!

MY RATING: 5*

VHAMPY

HOLY FREAKING CRAP! This book was amazing!!! After reading Lover Mine last year, I wasn't sure if I was going to be up to the challenge of another downer BDB book. I'm glad I was wrong. This book made me laugh, cry, yell and feel.

My highlights:

Manny is now on my list of hot sexy bastards. Adding Manny to the mix of the Brotherhood was a wise move by the WARDen. Manny doesn't put up with shit--especially V's and I like that about him. I never understood why he was so attracted to Payne and Payne was so attracted to him but you know what? The two of them actually work together. Now let me say a little somethin' somethin' about Payne. In Lover Mine she was all bad ass and kicking Wrath's ass from left to right. I always thought of Payne as Xhex Jr. In this book she has so many moments of trying to be prim and proper. I guess she was trying to be like Layla? Why?? I think Payne may have a split personality or something.

V/Butch/Jane. HOLY FREAKING CRAP! I knew we would see more of V in more of the books because there was no way he would be suddenly "healed" after hooking up with Jane. It makes sense to me that V's painful past would be brought to the forefront when he learned he had a sister. W.O.W. Just W.O.W. V went from hell and back and survived because of his love for Jane and Butch. My man Butch...damn I love that man. He put V before himself because he knew it was needed but damn was chapter 37 so hard to read. My prediction is we will see the consequences of Butch's actions in future books.

Band of Bastards. OH YEAH! Fresh Brother meat with a side of naughty. I would like several serving please!!! And her is the Vhampy prediction: I believe Rhage and Throe are blood brothers. Will I be right?

All in all this book MOVED me! I read it in one day and at the end I was begging for MORE!

Long live the WARDen!

My rating: 4.75*

Usually, I don't put much thought into how they name books, but Lover Unleashed was pretty accurate. I would have to say that what was unleashed was revelations and lots of them! This was the story of Payne and Manny, but like the other girls said, their story was not the forefront of the action. A lot of growth into Vishous's past is what is embellished on instead. If you felt that his book needed more resolution in the end, well this one helped clear that up quite a bit. The relationships of V and Jane and Butch are stretched to the limits and the lengths that each go through to keep their respective friendships/relationships intact is truly amazing.

*Possible spoilers*

Ok, on to Quinn and Blay. Now this is where I have some mixed feelings. Yes, I love Quinn and Blay together and Quinn definitely had his own revelations in this book, but there was a conversation that Saxton had with Quinn about lovers and love of his life. Appparantly, Saxton is living with Blay and Saxton knows how Quinn and Blay feel about each other, even if Q/B don't admit it to each other. So why is Saxton still there? I would totally feel like a third wheel if I was him, but whatever. I'm glad Blay is getting his in the meantime, while Quinn gets his act together.

I guess I should remark about Payne and Manny since it is technically their story. I was quite impressed by Manny and how he was acting so brother-like. He definitely had some hot scenes (i.e shower) and maybe it was just me but I loved how passionate he was about his horse and shared her with Payne. Speaking of Payne, though. Where was the butt-kicking heroine that sparred with Wrath? She had been healing for so long in the book that we didn't get to see much of that. I have a feeling that we will not be hearing the end of her, though.

Ok, now on to Xcor and his band of not so merry men. LOL. I am so excited and intrigued how the Warden will take this new storyline in the future. I was entralled by Throe and I hope that is not the end of him because I really liked him. And let me tell you, they know how to show a girl a good time, too!

One last thing....I wish there were more brother moments, but there was so much going on that it was inevitable that something had to give in the book. Oh and where was Muhrder?

Circe's Recruits; ROANE by Marie Harte

Title: Roane
Author: Marie Harte
Series: Circe's Recruits
Genre: Paranormal / Fantasy

Reviewed by: Anna

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, domination, male/male sexual practices, menage (m/f/m), multiple partners, sex while in shifted form, violence.

Don't you just love warnings? Explicit ones that is. I sure do. And it's just what you need to get you out of a really bad reading slump.

Roane is a Circ. A genetically changed man, neither human nor animal.
He's something in between. He's also the leader of the squad, his trusted team of four men who are just like him.
Their mission is to destroy the man that changed them, Pearson Labs and the insane Rogues that comes out of that hellhole.
With one exception...Caitlyn.

How to describe this story? Hmm.
Hot. Hot. Hot. Hot. HOT!!!
These "creatures", the Circ's, are definitely something new and different. Described as Hulk-like when changed, they grow in size and appearence. Tougher skin, fangs and claws turns them into wild beasts.
And they really are that. Wild. Beasts.
Being the first book of four in this series the storyline is somewhat weak but there is one, one that grows stronger and better with each book.
The characters are rough but very likable. Sexy.
You can feel the connection between them all and that connection intensifies when Caitlyn enters their compound.
Let the mating heat begin. OMV.
Kudos to Harte for some of the hottest scenes I have ever read!

So if you like your PNR/Fantasy Romance rough and gritty with a touch of insane hotness; READ THIS SERIES.
You won't regret it.

Review: Destiny Kills (Myth and Magic) by Keri Arthur

Title: Destiny Kills
Author: Keri Arthur
Series: Myth and Magic
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Reviewer: Vhampy

This is the first book in the Myth and Magic series by Keri Arthur. This book was published in October of 2008 and I'm glad I didn't read it until now because the second book isn't going to be released until May 2011! That is just TOO long for this Vhampy to wait on the goods!

This story is a little different than your normal paranormal romances because people, we are dealing with dragons here. Air and sea dragons. Who knew??

This story is about Destiny. She is a half breed. Her father is an air dragon and her mother is a sea dragon. Even though air dragon magic is in her blood, she really is a sea dragon and can call the sea to do her bidding .

Destiny has had a hard life by being kidnapped by some scientists that are trying to understand the workings of dragons. Yes, the dragons were experimented on and horrible things were done to them but thank goodness the author didn't go into that great of a detail. Abuse really isn't my thing.

While Destiny tries to save her family and friends from the nasty scientists, she meets Trae. He is an air dragon. Who knew air dragons could be so freaking hot?

I can't give everything away but this was a very good read and a perfect set up for the next book. I'm anxious to see what the author does with the series. I'm hooked.

REVIEW: The Knife Of Never Letting Go

Author: Patrick Ness
Genre: Young Adult

Review by: Jessica

  • Prentisstown isn't like other towns. It's a town where everyone can hear each others thoughts and see their memories. A town where everyone can hear the thoughts of their animals and are able to talk to them (whether they want to or not). A town where there are no *living* women. Just the memories and endless thoughts from the Noise of the men who live in Prentisstown. Never.Ending.Noise.

Just 1 short month away from his 13th birthday, the birthday that will make him a man, Todd Hewitt discovers something he's never encountered before. Silence. As shocked as he is by this, he instinctively knows that he must keep it a secret from the men of Prentisstown. But with everyone able to read his Noise (whether he likes it or not), his secret is quickly given away and he is forced to go on the run. To run away from the only people, the only home he's ever known.

While on the run, Todd Hewitt slowly learns that Prentisstown isn't what it really seems and that the men have been keeping a secret. Now Todd "moosed warren", the rest of the world. The world that he never knew existed until he was forced from his town.

I had many feelings while reading this book. I was slightly irritated in the beginning, learning the language and world the author created. The run-on sentences and the spelling mistakes that aren't meant as mistakes. All of it. How annoyed I felt because it felt like Todd was just running and running and never getting anywhere and how the book felt like it was just dragging. And just when I was ready to throw in the towel, and chuck the book out of the window IT SUCKED ME RIGHT IN AND GOT NICE AND GOOD. And when I felt like I couldn't take one more "Poo, Todd?" it GREW ON ME! and I found myself liking Manchee and his simple minded doggy brain. And I was finally understanding "ruddy" Todd Hewitt and his never ending askings. The book just got good. Like really REALLY can't put me down kind of GOOD!

I would definetely recommend this to anyone who likes YA books like The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (though really there is no real comparison to the Hunger Games Trilogy). Don't let the language and constant Noise turn you away. Give it a shot because it's GOOD!! Such a good start to what looks to be a great series!

Review: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf

Title: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf
Author: Molly Harper
Series: How to (book 1)
Genre: Paranormal Romance

This is the first book in the How to series by Molly Harper.

This story focuses on Mo, a woman who leaves her clingy, hippy family in the middle of the night and drives from the southern United States to Alaska to discover herself.

Mo is a quirky, snarky woman who just wants to live the first time in her life. In Alaska she is quickly welcomed into the town and takes a job as a cook at the local (and only) diner in town.

Since Mo is the new woman in town, all of the local males are drawn to her but there is one man, Cooper, who is mysterious and deadly. Of course he is the one she wants!

Cooper...he makes me howl. *wink* He meets my requirements of being a hot bastard. He's had a tough life, family issues, trying to find his way into manhood and did I mention...he is freaking sexy?

While reading this book, I found I was anticipating what would happen next. This is your typical werewolf-human love story but what made this book fun for me was the author. She entwined humor through most of the book and I appreciate a good laugh.

I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.

Vhampy's rating: *** and a half

REVIEW: How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Title: How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire
Author: Kerrelyn Sparks
Series: Love at Stake (book 1)
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Reviewed by: Sonia

I loved this book from the beginning. The writing style is exactly the right combination of enough dialogues (what I like), good characters and most especially humor. Humor is what made me fall in love with this book from the first page.

Roman Draganesti is a 500-hundred old vampire who is the head of one of 4 world´s biggest vampire covens and also owns a multi-million dollar company that produces artificial blood. For humans, he is a hero who saved millions of human lives with his artificial blood and for the secret society of vampires he is the one who made most of the vampires to stop drinking blood from humans. But there is other group who wants to keep the old tradition and refuse to drink anything else than fresh tasty blood from a warm human being.

The hilarious part of the book starts from the beginning when Roman breaks his fang when he tries to bite a sexdoll. Yup, sexdoll. But it´s not quite as it seems :-) Anyway he needs a dentist who would put his fang back and he has only couple of hours to find one because when the sun goes up and he falls asleep, his body will heal the wound and he will forever be a one-fanged vampire. But appearently there is no vampire dentist so he has to find a mortal one.

The only dentist that works during the night is Shanna. She is living her life under false name as part of the FBI witness protection program. And appearently this night is exactly the night when her enemies find her and try to kill her. After Roman rescues her, he takes her with him and tries to convince her to put his fang back. But what a shock for him when he discovers that she is the first person in 500 years who is able to resist his mesmerizing. And she really refuses to put what she thinks is a wolf fang to his mouth.

Roman and Shanna are great for each other. She is funny and optimistic under all circumstances and she is exactly what a depressed vampire who gave up everything good in his life needs. And if you love men in kilts, you will love this book because Roman has an entire security team of them :-) I really loved Connor, I hope he gets his own book!

One of my favourite scenes is when Shanna finally lets Roman enter her mind and he can hypnotize her to put his fang back. But the unexpected thing is that under his hypnosion she is also able to read his mind and he surely has other things on his mind that teeth :-)

"Do you want me to implant your tooth now?" She tilted her head, frowning a bit. "Or shall we have oral sex?"
Roman stared at Shanna. Good God. Not only had she read him like a book, but she was apparently willing to have sex with him. Amazing.
"Sir!" Laszlo's voice rose an octave. He twirled a button with his fingers. "There isn't enough time for—for two treatments. You must decide between your—your tooth or your…" With a grimace, he glanced at Roman's swollen jeans.
My fang or my yang? The latter strained against his zipper, as if it wanted to leap out and shoot its mouth off. Pick me, pick me!

As I said, the humor in this book is great. At least in the first half.

But there were also some things that bothered me. First, the using of expression „God´s Blood!“ on every page, over and over and over again. I also didn´t like that the author decided to go with ALL the vampire myths from garlic, silver, crosses to invisibility in the mirror and sleeping in coffins but mostly the whole catholic background, vampires being considered as demons from Satan who will go to hell and all that. The humor was much less seen in the second half of the book what I consider the greatest loss.

So with everything said, I have really mixed feelings how to rate this book. The first half of it I would rate between 4 and 5 stars but the second half would be 3 stars only. But because I really loved the humor in the first part, I give this book weaker 4 stars.

MY RATING: weaker ****
